The role we are currently seeking to fill is a Cook position with a schedule from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. every other weekend. This position is key in maintaining the high standards of our dining services by preparing all meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner according to menu plans and standardized recipes in a safe and sanitary manner. As a Cook, you will be responsible for cooking food according to production forecasts, including techniques such as braising meats, preparing soups, blanching, and roasting. You will also prepare cold menu items and play an important role in suggesting menu or recipe changes to utilize any leftovers or overstocked items efficiently. The position requires adherence to appearance, cleanliness, hygiene, and health standards. Cooks must be dependable, punctual, and capable of supervising the kitchen in the absence of the Executive Chef. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Culinary degree or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum two years experience in food production and/or restaurant services
  • Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation practices
  • Ability to work a 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. shift and every other weekend
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality
  • Physical ability to perform job duties including lifting up to 40 pounds

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred
  • Culinary degree or equivalent work experience preferred
  • At least two years of related experience and/or training in food production and/or restaurant services required
  • Experience in fine dining strongly preferred
  • Ability to read, write, follow written and oral instructions, and communicate effectively in English
  • Knowledge of principles of high-end institutional food service including food planning, preparation, cooking, storage, dietetics and sanitation
  • Physical capability to sit, stand, walk, climb stairs, reach, turn, bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, reach over head, grasp with both hands, and perform fine manipulation
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds unassisted on a regular basis

Job Duties

  • Prepares all foods for breakfast, lunch and dinner according to the menu and standardized recipes in a safe, efficient and sanitary manner
  • Maintains basic food recipes, preparation, service and storage sanitation principles
  • Cooks food during the preparation process in accordance with production forecasts including braising meats, preparing soup stocks, blanching and roasting
  • Prepares cold menu items on the service line as assigned by Chef
  • Suggests menu or recipe changes to use leftovers and over-stocked items in a timely manner
  • Ensures proper preparation, portioning and serving of foods as indicated on the menu cycle and standardized recipes
  • Maintains or exceeds standards of appearance, cleanliness, hygiene and health standards
  • Supervises the kitchen in the absence of the Executive Chef
  • Performs other duties as assigned and outlined in Procedure and Policy manual and disaster and fire plan
  • Dependable and able to meet schedule requirements including attendance and punctuality
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor
