Under this expansive health system, the Blue Rock Bar & Grill, located in Sioux Falls, SD, operates as a dynamic culinary venue that serves patients, staff, and visitors with quality dining experiences that support overall health and satisfaction.
The Sous Chef position at Blue Rock Bar & Grill offers a unique opportunity to be part of an esteemed healthcare organization while showcasing culinary skills in a high-energy, event-driven restaurant environment. This role is designed for an individual who is passionate about food quality, kitchen management, and team leadership. The Sous Chef will oversee and manage food preparation for a designated area of the kitchen, ensuring that every dish meets the established standards for taste, presentation, and safety. With responsibilities that span from daily food prep and inventory control to staff training and culinary innovation, this role requires a detail-oriented and proactive culinary professional.
As a Sous Chef, you will work closely with the Food and Beverage Manager to design new recipes, plan menus, and select plate presentations that align with both guest expectations and health standards. Your commitment to cost control and food safety will be critical, as you will adhere to strict procedures including food production charts, par inventories, standardized recipes, and food costing sheets to maintain quality while optimizing resources. Additionally, you will monitor the maintenance and cleanliness of kitchen equipment and ensure compliance with health department regulations through proper receiving, storage, and rotation of food products.
Beyond technical skills, this position emphasizes leadership and team development. The Sous Chef will provide ongoing training and coaching for kitchen staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment. Your ability to promote guest-oriented service, demonstrate integrity, and maintain excellent attendance will contribute significantly to the overall dining experience at Blue Rock Bar & Grill. This role offers a flexible schedule and operates on a PRN basis, with varying shifts and hours, including nights and weekends, tailored to meet the demands of a busy hospitality setting.
