The Sous Chef role at Rusty Bucket Restaurant and Tavern is a full-time position with a competitive salary range of $60,000 to $65,000 annually. This critical culinary position involves not only preparing nutritious, safe, and visually appealing food but also ensuring that kitchen operations run smoothly, efficiently, and in compliance with all safety and sanitation regulations. The Sous Chef is responsible for menu planning, budget preparation, payroll maintenance, food cost management, and record keeping. Key responsibilities include establishing and maintaining high-quality standards in food preparation, training associates on cooking methods, presentation techniques, portion control, and nutrient retention. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous kitchen supervisory experience
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Leadership ability
- Willingness to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
Job Qualifications
- Proven experience as a sous chef or in a similar role
- Strong knowledge of culinary techniques and food safety standards
- Excellent leadership and team management skills
- Ability to train and mentor kitchen staff
- Experience with menu planning, food cost control, and budgeting
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Culinary degree or relevant certification preferred

- Assist in controlling all kitchen-related costs
- Maintain sanitation to exceed health department standards
- Ensure proper security of all restaurant personnel and guest property
- Directly supervise all Heart of House associates including hiring, training, performance appraisal, and conflict resolution
