The Playa Vista campus, where this position is located, is a vibrant hub for creative technology and media companies, fostering an environment of innovation and collaboration. Within this dynamic setting, Thompson Hospitality is seeking a talented and experienced Sous Chef to support the Executive Chef in managing all aspects of the kitchen operations. The Sous Chef plays a critical leadership role as the second-in-command in the kitchen, responsible for supervising kitchen staff, ensuring consistent and high-quality food preparation, and maintaining strict safety and sanitation standards.

This role is perfect for a culinary professional who excels in mentoring and developing team members while managing the complexities of food preparation and service schedules. The Sous Chef will collaborate closely with the Executive Chef on menu planning and inventory management, ensuring that every dish meets the highest standards of presentation and flavor. In addition, the position demands excellent organizational skills to manage prep work, station assignments, and the overall kitchen workflow to deliver seamless service during every meal period.

The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, demonstrating exceptional attention to detail and the ability to multitask efficiently. Job Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during long shifts
  • Frequent bending, reaching, stooping, and twisting
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move items weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Manual dexterity to handle knives, cookware, and kitchen equipment safely
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure kitchen environment
  • Tolerance for exposure to heat, steam, noise, and open flames
  • Ability to navigate tight kitchen spaces and multitask efficiently
  • Visual and sensory acuity to inspect food quality, presentation, and safety

Job Qualifications

  • Experience as a sous chef
  • Experience in high-class dining
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and quality
  • Excellent time management skills to ensure timely and efficient food preparation
  • Understanding of food safety and sanitation regulations, with a focus on maintaining a clean and organized work area
