Job Description
Artisanal Brewing Ventures (ABV) is a leading regional craft alcohol company in the United States, recognized as a top 10 player in the craft brewing industry. ABV is a collective of five established and successful craft brands with a combined legacy exceeding 75 years. These brands include Victory Brewing, Bold Rock Cider, Sixpoint Brewery, Southern Tier Brewing, and Southern Tier Distilling. Operating locations across five states—New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Virginia, and North Carolina—ABV encompasses taprooms, production facilities, and its corporate headquarters. The company is renowned for fostering quality and innovation in the craft beer and cider market, continuously pushing boundaries through curiosity and collaboration.
At Southern Tier Brewing, one of the distinguished brands under ABV, the passion for creating exceptional craft beers is central to the experience. Southern Tier has been expanding its reach since partnering with ABV in 2014, allowing its brewers to focus wholeheartedly on their craft while leveraging shared resources such as marketing, administration, and accounting. This partnership has not only optimized business efficiencies but also enhanced access to superior ingredients and cross-brand collaborative opportunities, truly making it a powerhouse in the craft beer space. The company's culture thrives on teamwork, a commitment to quality, and a deep appreciation for the community that enjoys its unique pours.
The role of Sous Chef at Southern Tier Brewing offers an exciting opportunity for culinary professionals to join a passionate, dynamic team dedicated to enhancing the craft beer experience through exceptional food offerings. This position involves working closely with the Executive Chef and General Manager to maintain high culinary standards, manage kitchen operations, and creatively develop menus that complement Southern Tier's diverse craft beer portfolio. The Sous Chef will play a vital role in overseeing daily kitchen activities, staff supervision, training, and ensuring food safety adherence while contributing ideas for pairing menus with seasonal and limited beer releases.
This full-time position comes with an annual salary ranging from $55,000 to $70,000, depending on experience, alongside a compelling benefits package and growth opportunities across ABV’s five successful brands. The ideal candidate is someone with at least two years of restaurant industry experience who holds a Serve Safe certification and shows genuine enthusiasm for craft beer and its culinary applications. Strong communication skills and the physical ability to meet the demands of the role are essential. The Sous Chef will also embody leadership qualities, fostering a positive work culture and acting as a safety manager within the kitchen.
Joining ABV means becoming part of a community that values quality, creativity, and collaboration, all within an environment that supports professional growth, flexible scheduling, and generous time off. If you are passionate about craft, food, and working within a tight-knit, energetic team, this position is an excellent match for advancing your culinary career while surrounded by a company committed to excellence in craft brewing and food pairing.
