The Sous Chef will support daily kitchen operations by assisting the Executive Chef in all aspects of food preparation, service execution, and staff management. They will play a key role in creating seasonal specials and contributing to menu development that highlights local and fresh ingredients. This role requires an individual who can lead and motivate a back-of-house staff, ensuring that all members are well-trained, scheduled, and working efficiently. Strong communication skills and the ability to work seamlessly with kitchen staff, front-of-house, and management are essential.

In addition to leading kitchen teams, the Sous Chef will be responsible for monitoring food safety, sanitation, and cleanliness to meet health department regulations. They will contribute to inventory control, ordering processes, and efficient use of resources to manage labor costs and food waste. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a professional kitchen
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift heavy items
  • Valid food handler’s certificate
  • Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment

Job Qualifications

  • Culinary degree or equivalent experience
  • Proven experience as a sous chef or similar role in a fast-paced kitchen
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations
  • Ability to develop seasonal menu items and specials
  • Experience in staff training and development
  • Culinary creativity and passion for farm-to-table cuisine

Job Duties
