The role of Sous Chef at JOEY Restaurants is pivotal to the success of the business and its team. This full-time position offers an annual salary ranging from $70,304 to $90,000, depending on experience and other objective factors. The Sous Chef is responsible for leading a kitchen team to provide memorable, consistent, and iconic culinary experiences for guests. This involves managing labor budgets, maintaining a pristine restaurant environment, and ensuring only the highest quality products are delivered. The Sous Chef acts as a coach and mentor by inspiring continuous learning and development among team members, ultimately enhancing their professional skills and job satisfaction.
In this role, the Sous Chef supports the preparation of ingredients and food products, helps maintain clean and safe kitchen areas, and oversees refrigeration and storage spaces. The position requires utilizing various preparation and cooking methods such as washing, chopping, grilling, roasting, sautéing, and frying according to JOEY’s recipe standards. Additionally, the Sous Chef plays a vital role in recruitment, training, and ongoing development of kitchen partners, ensuring technical knowledge and execution aligns with the company’s world-class standards. Job Requirements

- 3+ years culinary experience
- Must have or be able to obtain valid local and/or state Food Handler and California Responsible Beverage Service certifications

Job Duties
- Support your team in the preparation of all ingredients and food products to fulfill prep lists, par levels, and recipe standards
- Utilize various preparation and cooking methods to ensure the quick, precise creation of our menu items in accordance with JOEY recipes
- Maintain prep and cooking areas in a clean, sanitary and safe manner
- Ensure clean, organized, and maintained refrigerators, cooler drawers, ovens, preparation, and dry storage areas
- Train partners on the instructions and guidelines for safe usage of kitchen equipment and cleaning compounds
- Fulfill recruitment needs, impact positive candidate experiences, and select and retain your team
- Support your team in training and development of technical knowledge and world-class execution of JOEY tasks and standards
- Communicate daily focus and feedback to partners
- Manage in-store budgets, food costs, and labor
- Impact the delivery of Iconic Hospitality and coach the kitchen team as needed to fulfill experience standards for our guests
- Follow all food service and handling safety precautions and procedures
