The role available at Tupelo Honey is an essential position within the back of house (BOH) team, responsible for the smooth execution of kitchen operations during shifts. This position requires an individual to oversee multiple components of the BOH environment, including line cooks, food preparation, expediting orders, and dishwashing. A critical part of the role is ensuring strict adherence to recipe specifications and maintaining the highest safety and sanitation standards as outlined by Steritech protocols.

The chosen candidate will lead the preparation of the Tupelo Honey family meal, demonstrating both culinary skills and a collaborative spirit to support the kitchen team. They will also play a vital role in performance management, which includes training and mentoring line cooks and expeditors, fostering an environment of continuous learning and professional growth. Beyond supervising day-to-day operations, this individual will assist back of house leadership with coaching, counseling, and disciplining direct reports as needed.

Job Requirements

  • Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time
  • be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds
  • must be able to communicate clearly with managers, kitchen and dining room personnel
  • must have schedule flexibility to cover all meal periods as needed
  • must be able to move and process information quickly

Job Qualifications

  • Previous restaurant experience required
  • a minimum of 2 years of experience in kitchen preparation and cooking
  • at least 6 months experience in a similar capacity

Job Duties

  • Responsible for the oversight of BOH shift execution including line, prep, expo, and dish
  • responsible for recipe execution and adherence to recipe specs
  • heads the preparation of Tupelo Honey family meal
  • responsible for safety and sanitation, adhering to Steritech standards
  • responsible for performance management and training of line and expo
  • responsible for supporting back of house leadership with BOH supervision
  • including coaching, counseling, discipline and overall mentorship of direct reports
