The role we are currently hiring for is integral to our back-of-house operations, responsible for leading and managing kitchen staff while ensuring food preparation standards and operational excellence are consistently met. As a Back-of-House Supervisor at Tupelo Honey, your primary responsibility will be to oversee shift operations including line cooks, prep staff, expediter, and dishwashers, ensuring that all activities align with Tupelo Honey’s high standards for quality, safety, and cleanliness. You will be instrumental in guiding the team through training, performance management, and maintaining overall kitchen efficiency.

This position offers an exciting opportunity for individuals who are passionate about culinary excellence and leadership. Ideal candidates will have previous restaurant experience with at least two years in kitchen preparation and cooking, alongside experience in supervisory roles within a fast-paced environment. Flexibility in scheduling is essential, as covering all meal periods is required.

Job Requirements

  • Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time
  • Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to communicate clearly with managers, kitchen and dining room personnel
  • Must have schedule flexibility to cover all meal periods as needed
  • Must be able to move and process information quickly

Job Qualifications

  • Previous restaurant experience required
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in kitchen preparation and cooking
  • At least 6 months experience in a similar capacity

Job Duties

  • Responsible for opening or closing the restaurant on a designated shift
  • Responsible for the oversight of BOH shift and ensuring all BOH operational standards are in place
  • Responsible for the oversight of BOH execution including line, prep, expo, and dish
  • Responsible for recipe execution and adherence to recipe specs
  • Heads the preparation of Tupelo Honey family meal
  • Responsible for safety and sanitation, adhering to Steritech standards
  • Responsible for performance management and training of line and expo
  • Responsible for supporting back of house leadership with BOH supervision including coaching, counseling, discipline and overall mentorship of direct reports
