The Food Preparation Supervisor role at Hard Rock Casino Rockford is a pivotal position responsible for overseeing the food preparation process across all shifts in an assigned food outlet. Additionally, this role involves contributing to menu development, ensuring variety and quality remain paramount. Operational responsibilities include managing all kitchen equipment, such as slicers, grinders, and patty machines, to guarantee smooth daily operations. Ideal candidates will bring to the role a wealth of culinary experience—at least eight years of progressively responsible food preparation experience or equivalent culinary education, complemented by supervisory experience. This role requires in-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations, food safety standards, and culinary techniques, especially in preparing stocks, sauces, and a wide range of meats and seafood. Excellent organizational, budgeting, and communication skills are crucial, as is the ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment while maintaining professionalism.

Job Requirements

  • Must obtain and maintain valid driver’s license and all licenses/certifications per Federal, State, and Gaming regulations
  • Must successfully pass background check
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Minimum of 8 years progressive preparation experience or culinary arts degree or accredited apprenticeship
  • At least 1 year supervisory experience

  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local food laws, codes, and regulations

  • Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing

Job Duties

  • Hire, train, motivate, evaluate, and supervise staff to ensure guidance and resources
  • Establish and maintain training and development procedures for superior guest service
  • Maintain department objectives, standards, guidelines, and budget

  • Monitor and evaluate food preparation by observing cooking techniques and tasting
  • Assist in developing menu changes to ensure variety and food quality

  • Operate, maintain, and oversee operation of all kitchen equipment
