Job Requirements
- Culinary diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a sous chef or similar role
- Experience in managing kitchen staff and operations
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and standards
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks
Job Qualifications
- Proven experience as a sous chef or relevant role in a high-volume kitchen
- Strong culinary skills with a focus on seasonal and farm-to-table cuisine
- Experience in menu development and recipe creation
- Excellent leadership and team management abilities
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Culinary degree or relevant certification is preferred
- Passion for sustainability and local ingredient sourcing
- Ability to train and mentor kitchen staff
Job Duties
- Provide friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient service in a fast-paced, high-standards environment
- Develop specials that highlight seasonal ingredients and offer guests unique, exciting options beyond the seasonally changing menu
- Contribute ideas and development support for seasonal menu planning
- Work efficiently during service while maintaining food quality and consistency
- Recruit, onboard, train, schedule, and supervise back-of-house staff
- Support the Chef in daily kitchen operations and service execution
- Lead and supervise kitchen staff during shifts, ensuring standards are met
- Cook on the line as needed while maintaining quality, consistency, and timing
- Assist with training, coaching, and development of kitchen team members
- Ensure recipes, portioning, and presentation standards are followed
- Monitor food safety, sanitation, and cleanliness throughout the kitchen
- Assist with prep planning, inventory, ordering, and product rotation
- Help manage labor, food waste, and overall kitchen efficiency
- Step in to resolve issues during service and support smooth operations
- Communicate effectively with the chef, kitchen team, servers, bartenders, support staff, and managers to ensure smooth service flow
- Follow proper food handling, storage, and labeling procedures
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of station, equipment, and work areas
- Use kitchen equipment safely and properly
- Assist with prep, cleaning, and kitchen side work as needed
- Support menu rollouts, seasonal changes, and staff education in collaboration with Management Team
- Adhere to all food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations
- Uphold Harvest’s brand, service standards, hospitality culture and policies
- Assist with opening and closing duties and other side work
- Perform additional duties as needed to support kitchen and restaurant operations
