Job Description
Providence Meadows is the premier independent living community dedicated to active seniors located in Charlotte. Known for its commitment to providing a vibrant and supportive environment, Providence Meadows offers residents a lifestyle filled with comfort, community, and quality services. Focused on creating a welcoming atmosphere with an emphasis on hospitality, integrity, and compassion, Providence Meadows ensures that its residents enjoy the best possible living experience. The community prides itself on its culture of patience, loyalty, understanding, and hard work, which reflects in both the lives of its residents and the rewarding careers it offers to its team members.
We are currently seeking a full-time Sous Chef to join our culinary team. This role is integral to preparing nutritious, appetizing, and visually appealing meals that meet the diverse tastes and dietary needs of our senior residents. As a member of the culinary services team, the Sous Chef will contribute to a smooth, efficient, and safe kitchen operation while collaborating closely with other kitchen staff. The ideal candidate for this position will bring a friendly, professional, and energetic personality paired with a genuine passion for enhancing the lives of others through excellent food service.
This full-time position requires an individual who is at least 18 years old and possesses a minimum of two years' experience in institutional or full-service restaurant cooking. The candidate must demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of food service sanitation practices and maintain the necessary food handler's permit to comply with state regulations. Communication skills are paramount, as the Sous Chef will regularly interact with residents and coworkers, requiring clarity and conciseness.
Organizational skills and the ability to deliver excellent customer service consistently are essential for success in this role. The Sous Chef must also be adept at working under time constraints and meeting deadlines without compromising the quality of food or safety standards. Our mission at Providence Meadows is to find individuals who deeply understand the principles of hospitality, integrity, and compassion—core values that drive every member of our team to foster rewarding lives and careers.
Joining Providence Meadows means becoming part of a unique work culture that celebrates teamwork, community spirit, and year-round festivities that bring joy and camaraderie to the workplace. Our comprehensive benefits package includes competitive compensation, paid time off, and a variety of healthcare options such as medical, dental, vision, and disability insurance. We also offer supplemental life insurance, a 401(k) retirement plan with company matching, and access to an employee assistance program (EAP) to support your overall well-being.
Providence Meadows is an Equal Opportunity Employer and is committed to background checks, employment verifications, and reference checks during the hiring process. We encourage enthusiastic and qualified candidates to apply by completing an application in person or submitting their resume for consideration. This opportunity is ideal for culinary professionals seeking to make a positive impact in an active senior community while advancing their careers in a supportive and dynamic environment.
