Job Description

Eurest, a prominent global leader in the foodservice industry, is recognized worldwide for its high standards of service and excellence. As a division of Compass Group, Eurest prides itself on delivering exceptional culinary experiences across various corporate environments, serving many of the world’s most respected and successful companies, including numerous Fortune 500 corporations. The company operates with an ownership mindset that combines global resources with a strong local presence, deeply enriching the communities it serves. This commitment is embodied in the Eurest Promise: "connect with people, inspire through food, create solutions, and live our promise," which is the driving philosophy behind all its operations.

Eurest is currently inviting applications for full-time Sous Chef positions based at MetLife Cary in Cary, North Carolina. This opportunity offers a competitive fixed pay rate of $19.50 per hour with a structured Monday through Friday work schedule, though hours may vary and additional details will be provided upon interview. The Sous Chef plays a vital role within the kitchen environment, working closely with the Executive Chef to prepare and cook foods to high quality standards while also coordinating activities among other cooks and food-service associates. This is a hands-on leadership role where responsibility extends to managing kitchen operations during the Executive Chef’s absence.

The Sous Chef will be integral to maintaining rigorous production and presentation standards, adhering strictly to recipes and production guidelines to ensure exceptional culinary output. Important duties include supervision of hourly food-service staff, encompassing interviewing, training, scheduling, payroll management, counseling, and performance reviews, including disciplinary measures if necessary. Adherence to food safety and sanitation protocols is paramount, with the Sous Chef overseeing correct food storage practices and cleanliness of equipment and workstations. The role demands a proactive approach to maintaining portion control, food handling, and consistent serving temperatures to meet service and quality expectations.

Beyond kitchen management, the Sous Chef interacts directly with customers, handling complaints in a professional and service-oriented manner that aligns with Eurest’s dedication to excellence. Monitoring inventory levels and deliveries, tracking product consumption and waste, and communicating any supply issues to supervisory staff are important aspects of this position. This ensures smooth operational flow and cost management within the foodservice program.

Eurest is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment where every employee’s unique perspectives and skills contribute to the company’s success. The company offers a comprehensive benefits package for full-time associates, which includes medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability benefits, retirement plans, flexible spending accounts, and wellness programs, among others. This position not only offers competitive compensation but also the opportunity to build a rewarding career in a renowned organization committed to both employee development and superior service delivery.

Candidates with prior experience in high-volume catering environments will find this role particularly suitable, as the demands of this position require efficiency under pressure and precise execution of culinary tasks in a dynamic setting. Eurest encourages applicants to bring a passion for food, leadership skills, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards in kitchen operations and customer satisfaction. As an equal opportunity employer, Eurest values fair treatment for all applicants and associates, regardless of race, gender, age, or other protected classifications. Those interested can apply online and have the chance to develop their culinary careers within one of the most respected names in foodservice.
