The Sous Chef role at Middlesex School offers a unique opportunity for culinary professionals passionate about education foodservice to advance their careers. Reporting directly to the Executive Chef, the Sous Chef plays a pivotal role in preparing and executing menu items in alignment with approved recipes and production standards. Job Duties

  • Cook and prepare food following approved recipes and production standards
  • Ensure all deadlines are met based on production orders
  • Supervise hourly food service associates, including interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, and recommending disciplinary action as appropriate
  • Store food in designated areas following corporate, state, and federal food safety and sanitation procedures
  • Ensure proper food handling, presentation, portion control, and maintenance of appropriate serving temperatures
  • Maintain sanitation of equipment, supplies, and utensils
  • Clean workstation thoroughly before leaving area
