Job Description

Meridian Senior Living is a reputable provider of senior living communities founded on the philosophy that "Everyone Deserves a Great Life." This company is committed to creating environments that promote the wellness, dignity, and independence of seniors through compassionate care and community engagement. With a reputation for excellence, Meridian Senior Living operates multiple communities that offer a spectrum of living options, including independent living, assisted living, and memory care services. Their foundational belief is that great lives start with great employees — individuals who are dedicated to making a meaningful difference in the lives of the residents they serve. The work at Meridian is challenging but deeply rewarding, emphasizing teamwork and compassion as essential to success.

The Sous Chef role at Meridian Senior Living is a vital position within the culinary department, supporting the food service operations and ensuring high-quality meal preparation that meets the specific nutritional and taste needs of senior residents. This position takes a leadership role in the kitchen, stepping in for the Executive Chef when absent and helping supervise kitchen staff to foster a positive and efficient work environment. The Sous Chef oversees the correct execution of daily menus, manages kitchen operations, maintains inventory, and ensures compliance with health and safety standards. This role directly contributes to the overall resident experience by delivering nourishing and appealing meals that accommodate dietary restrictions common in senior care.

This position is ideal for individuals with culinary education or equivalent experience in fine dining or hospitality settings. The ideal candidate will have two to three years of experience in hotels, restaurants, or clubs that specialize in high-quality cuisine, alongside supervisory experience that demonstrates leadership capabilities. A background in healthcare culinary services or knowledge of nutrition and diet is highly desirable to succeed in this environment. The Sous Chef must be proficient in interpreting recipes, instructions, and food safety standards while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced kitchen.

Meridian Senior Living provides a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision coverage, along with telemedicine services available to employees and their families at no cost. Additional offerings include flexible spending accounts, company-paid life insurance, long-term disability, tuition reimbursement, and a 401K plan. Employees also have access to voluntary benefits such as short-term disability and critical illness coverage, as well as unique perks like pet insurance and employee discounts at various retailers. This supportive work culture values integrity, joy, respect, and excellence, while encouraging career growth and development for its team members.

Overall, the Sous Chef position at Meridian Senior Living offers a fantastic opportunity for culinary professionals who want to advance their careers while making a positive impact in a fulfilling and rewarding workplace. Meridian Senior Living is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer dedicated to diversity and inclusion in its workforce.
