We are currently hiring immediately for full-time Sous Chef positions located at Acadia General Hospital in Crowley, Louisiana. This role offers a full-time schedule from Monday through Friday, with hours that may vary and include rotating weekends, which will be discussed in more detail during the interview process. The pay range for this position is $18.00 to $20.00 per hour, reflecting the importance of culinary expertise and leadership in supporting healthcare food service operations.
The Sous Chef role is a critical position within the culinary management team, helping the Executive Chef in preparing and cooking foods while coordinating the activities of cooks and other food-service associates. This position requires someone who is capable of taking responsibility for the kitchen and food-service associates in the absence of the Executive Chef. The ideal candidate will possess previous culinary management experience, demonstrating strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills to maintain the highest standards in food preparation, safety, and presentation.
Key responsibilities include ensuring all food is cooked and prepared following approved recipes and production standards and meeting strict production order deadlines. The Sous Chef will supervise hourly food service associates, handling aspects such as interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, performance reviews, and disciplinary actions as appropriate. Proper food handling procedures and sanitation compliance are of paramount importance to safeguard patient health, ensuring correct portion control, food presentation, and maintenance of serving temperatures.
This role also demands a hands-on approach to maintaining kitchen cleanliness and sanitation of equipment, supplies, and utensils, as well as managing inventory and product deliveries. The Sous Chef must be proactive in monitoring product usage, waste control, and timely replenishment of supplies. In addition, they interact with customers to address any complaints in a friendly and service-oriented manner, ensuring patient satisfaction at all times. Understanding and explaining daily menu items accurately to both associates and customers is necessary to support smooth operations during peak production and service hours.
