Currently, Bon Appetit is seeking a full-time Sous Chef to join their team at Western Governors University located in Salt Lake City, Utah. This role operates Monday through Friday from 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM, offering a competitive hourly wage ranging from $25.00 to $27.00 depending on experience. The position is critical in supporting the Executive Chef by preparing high-quality food items, overseeing kitchen operations, and ensuring the smooth functioning of foodservice activities. The Sous Chef’s responsibilities include supervising hourly associates, managing inventory, maintaining food safety and sanitation standards, and delivering excellent customer service. Job Requirements
- Previous culinary experience required
- Ability to work full-time Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM
- Must be able to perform essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation

- Must be able to interact professionally with customers
- Ability to manage kitchen staff including hiring, training, and scheduling
Job Qualifications
- Previous culinary experience
- Ability to supervise and coordinate kitchen staff
- Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards

- Understanding of portion control and food presentation
- Basic inventory and stock monitoring skills
Job Duties
- Help Executive Chef prepare and cook foods
- Coordinate activities of cooks and other food-service associates
- Assume responsibility for kitchen and food-service associates in absence of Executive Chef
- Cook and prepare food following approved recipes and production standards
- Supervise hourly food-service associates including interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, and recommending disciplinary action
- Store food according to corporate, state and federal food safety and sanitation procedures
- Ensure proper food handling, presentation, portion control and maintenance of appropriate serving temperatures
- Maintain sanitation of equipment, supplies and utensils
- Clean workstation thoroughly before leaving area
- Keep display equipment clean during meal service
- Interact with customers to resolve complaints in a friendly, service-oriented manner
- Relay relevant information directly to supervisor
- Demonstrate complete understanding of daily menu items and accurately explain them
- Keep up with peak production and service hours
- Monitor inventory and deliveries of product and supplies
- Track product production, consumption and waste
- Inform supervisor when supplies or product are low
- Perform other duties as assigned
