The current opportunity is for a full-time Sous Chef position at CHS Grandview Medical located at 3960 Grandview Parkway, Birmingham, Alabama. This role is essential to the culinary team and reports to the Executive Chef. The Sous Chef assists in preparing and cooking food following approved recipes and production standards while coordinating kitchen and food-service activities. This position requires previous culinary and management experience, as the candidate will oversee cooks and food-service associates in the absence of the Executive Chef. The schedule for this position includes varying days and hours with rotating weekends, offering a full-time work arrangement and an hourly pay range of $23.50 to $24.50.

Job Duties
- Help executive chef prepare and cook foods
- coordinate activities of cooks and other food-service associates
- assume responsibility for kitchen and food-service associates in absence of executive chef
- cook and prepare food following approved recipes and production standards
- supervise hourly food-service associates including interviewing, scheduling, training, payroll and counseling
- ensure proper food handling, presentation, portion control and serving temperatures
- maintain sanitation of equipment and utensils
- interact with customers to resolve complaints in a friendly service-oriented manner
- monitor inventory and deliveries of products and supplies
- track product production, consumption and waste
- keep workstations and display equipment clean
