The current opening is for a full-time Sous Chef position at the Winding Commons location in Carmichael, California. This role is vital to the culinary team, acting as a key support to the Executive Chef by preparing and cooking foods, coordinating kitchen activities, and supervising food service associates. The position offers a consistent Monday through Friday schedule from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, providing a stable work-life balance for employees. Job Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years cooking experience
- Ability to work full-time Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
- Ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation
- Compliance with all food safety, sanitation and hygiene standards
- Ability to supervise and train food service associates
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Commitment to upholding company policies and standards
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 5 years prior cooking experience
- Proven leadership and supervisory skills
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
- Ability to read and follow recipes and production standards
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks effectively
Job Duties
- Cooks and prepares food following approved recipes and production standards
- Ensures all deadlines are met based on production orders
- Supervises hourly food service associates including interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, and counseling
- Stores food in designated areas following all corporate, state and federal food safety and sanitation procedures
- Ensures proper food handling, presentation, portion control and maintenance of appropriate serving temperatures
- Maintains sanitation of equipment, supplies and utensils
- Cleans workstation thoroughly before leaving area
- Keeps display equipment clean and free of debris during meal service
- Interacts with customers to resolve complaints in a friendly, service-oriented manner
- Relays relevant information directly to supervisor
- Demonstrates complete understanding of daily menu items and accurately explains them to associates and customers
- Monitors inventory and deliveries of product and supplies
- Tracks product production, consumption and waste
- Informs supervisor when supplies or product are low
- Performs other duties as assigned
