The Sous Chef position at UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital in Gainesville, FL, is a key role within Morrison Healthcare's culinary team. This is a full-time position offering a competitive hourly wage ranging from $16.00 to $25.00 per hour. The role requires an individual who is passionate about food preparation and kitchen leadership, with at least two years of prior chef experience preferred. The Sous Chef will assist the Executive Chef in preparing and cooking food according to approved recipes and production standards while managing the kitchen staff to ensure smooth daily operations. Responsibilities include supervising food service associates, maintaining food safety and sanitation standards, monitoring inventory and supplies, and ensuring excellent customer service. Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent

Job Duties

  • cooks and prepares food following approved recipes and production standards
  • ensures all deadlines are met based on production orders
  • supervises hourly food service associates including interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, participating in reviews and recommending disciplinary action
  • stores food in designated areas following corporate, state and federal food safety and sanitation procedures
  • ensures proper food handling, presentation, portion control and maintenance of appropriate serving temperatures
  • maintains sanitation of equipment, supplies and utensils
  • interacts with customers to resolve complaints in a friendly, service-oriented manner
  • demonstrates complete understanding of daily menu items and accurately explains them to associates and customers
  • monitors inventory and deliveries of product and supplies
  • tracks product production, consumption and waste
  • informs supervisor when supplies or product are low
  • performs other duties as assigned
