Job Description
Episcopal SeniorLife Communities is a reputable organization dedicated to providing high quality services ranging from skilled nursing and restorative care to housing, assisted living, and community-based wellness programs. With a firm commitment to meeting each individual's unique needs in a culturally competent manner, the organization supports residents and their families through life transitions with compassion and professionalism. Episcopal SeniorLife Communities takes pride in its pledge to enrich the lives of those it serves, making a positive difference every day through the inspired care and attention given to its community members. This mission reflects the values of respect, dignity, and personalized care that form the foundation of their service approach.
River Edge Manor, a key facility within Episcopal SeniorLife Communities, is currently seeking to fill a full-time cooking position with a starting rate of $23.50 per hour. The role offers a structured schedule including shifts on Sunday from 8 am to 3:30 pm and Monday through Thursday from 10 am to 6:30 pm. This position plays an essential role in the culinary team by preparing a variety of entrees, starches, vegetables, salads, pastries, desserts, sauces, soups, and stocks. Following classical cooking methods and standardized recipes, the cook ensures that meals are prepared accurately and to high standards.
In addition to meal preparation, the position requires assembling food for various meal times including lunch, dinner, snacks, and continental breakfasts based on requisition sheets. Responsibilities also include maintaining cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, proper food storage, cleaning dishes and utensils, and upholding a high level of customer satisfaction. The cook may participate in resident associations or food committee meetings to gather feedback and improve service quality. Attending chef and production meetings is necessary to address any concerns or plans, promoting effective communication and teamwork.
The cook is also required to ensure all food items comply with industry best practices as well as local health codes regulated by the New York State Department of Health and the Monroe County Health Department. Acting as the supervisor in the absence of the Chef Manager, this role directs and supervises food service staff during meal service and food preparation. Enforcement of departmental policies and procedures, adherence to dress standards, and participation in safety training meetings are critical aspects of maintaining operational excellence and workplace safety at River Edge Manor. Reporting directly to the Chef Manager, this position embodies leadership, culinary skill, and dedication to quality in a supportive and nurturing care environment.
