As a Sous Chef, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Executive Chef by preparing and cooking food items according to approved recipes and production standards. Your duties will include managing kitchen staff, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations, and maintaining high standards of food quality and presentation. Leadership responsibilities encompass interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, and performance reviews, along with recommending disciplinary actions when necessary. This role demands excellent organizational skills and the ability to work efficiently during peak production times while also maintaining sanitation and safety protocols. By interacting with customers, you will also help resolve complaints with a friendly, service-oriented approach and relay relevant information to your supervisor.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous culinary or food preparation experience preferred
- Ability to work a full-time schedule including early morning shifts
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks related to cooking
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations
- Strong organizational and leadership skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with team members and customers
Job Qualifications
- Previous prep, culinary, and menu creating experience is preferred
- Ability to supervise and lead food service associates
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and portion control standards
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience with inventory management and food production tracking
- Ability to maintain a safe and clean working environment
- Customer service skills to resolve complaints effectively
Job Duties
- Help executive chef prepare and cook foods
- Coordinate activities of cooks and other food-service associates
- Assume responsibility for kitchen and food-service associates in the absence of executive chef
- Cook and prepare food following approved recipes and production standards
- Ensure all deadlines are met based on production orders
- Supervise hourly food service associates including interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, and recommending disciplinary action
- Store food in designated areas following all corporate, state and federal food safety and sanitation procedures
- Ensure proper food handling, presentation, portion control and maintenance of appropriate serving temperatures
- Maintain sanitation of equipment, supplies and utensils
- Clean workstation thoroughly before leaving area
- Keep display equipment clean and free of debris during meal service to comply with all sanitation, safety, production and merchandising requirements
- Interact with customers to resolve complaints in a friendly, service-oriented manner
- Relay relevant information directly to supervisor
- Demonstrate complete understanding of daily menu items and accurately explain them to associates and customers
- Keep up with peak production and service hours
- Monitor inventory and deliveries of products and supplies
- Track product production, consumption and waste
- Inform supervisor when supplies or products are low
- Perform other duties as assigned
