The available position is a full-time Sous Chef role located at CBRE ExxonMobil, 4045 Scenic Highway in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. This opportunity is ideal for culinary professionals who thrive in dynamic kitchen environments and aspire to advance their culinary leadership skills. The Sous Chef will play a pivotal role in supporting the Executive Chef by assisting in the preparation and cooking of food, overseeing kitchen operations, and managing foodservice associates. This position offers a fixed pay rate of $18.00 per hour and requires open availability, preferably Monday through Friday, with hours varying based on production needs.

As a Sous Chef at Eurest, the successful candidate will demonstrate culinary expertise by preparing dishes in accordance with approved recipes and production standards while ensuring timely completion of orders. They will supervise and coordinate activities of cooks and other kitchen staff, including responsibilities such as hiring, scheduling, payroll, training, and performance management. The role demands strict adherence to corporate, state, and federal food safety and sanitation guidelines, ensuring proper food handling, presentation, portion control, and maintenance of serving temperatures.

This position also includes maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen equipment, workstations, and dining areas, contributing to a safe and inviting culinary environment. The Sous Chef will be the key point of contact for customer interactions related to food quality and service, addressing any concerns promptly and professionally. Inventory management, monitoring product deliveries, waste tracking, and notifying supervisors of supply needs are instrumental duties associated with the role.

Job Duties

  • Cook and prepare food following approved recipes and production standards
  • Ensure all deadlines are met based on production orders
  • Supervise hourly food service associates including interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, participating in reviews and recommending disciplinary action as appropriate
  • Store food in designated areas following all corporate, state and federal food safety and sanitation procedures
  • Ensure proper food handling, presentation, portion control and maintenance of appropriate serving temperatures
  • Maintain sanitation of equipment, supplies and utensils
  • Clean workstation thoroughly before leaving area
  • Keep display equipment clean and free of debris during meal service to comply with all sanitation, safety, production and merchandising requirements
  • Interact with customers to resolve complaints in a friendly, service-oriented manner
  • Relay relevant information directly to supervisor
  • Demonstrate complete understanding of daily menu items and accurately explain them to associates and customers
  • Keep up with peak production and service hours
  • Monitor inventory and deliveries of product and supplies
  • Track product production, consumption and waste
  • Inform supervisor when supplies or product are low
  • Perform other duties as assigned
