Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum one year culinary experience preferred
  • Ability to work full-time Monday through Friday with some weekend hours
  • Basic knowledge of food safety regulations
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Must be able to stand for long periods and lift heavy items
  • Reliable transportation to the Purdue University Fort Wayne location

Job Qualifications

  • One year of culinary experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Ability to supervise and manage kitchen staff effectively
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in food preparation and inventory management
  • Ability to work flexible hours including some weekends
  • Demonstrated leadership and problem-solving skills

Job Duties

  • Cooks and prepares food following approved recipes and production standards
  • Ensures all deadlines are met based on production orders
  • Supervises hourly food service associates including interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, and disciplinary actions
  • Stores food according to corporate, state, and federal food safety and sanitation procedures
  • Ensures proper food handling, presentation, portion control, and maintenance of serving temperatures
  • Maintains sanitation of equipment, supplies, and utensils
  • cleans workstation thoroughly
  • Interacts with customers to resolve complaints in a friendly, service-oriented manner
  • Demonstrates complete understanding of daily menu items and explains them accurately
  • Monitors inventory and deliveries of products and supplies
  • Tracks product production, consumption, and waste
  • Informs supervisor when supplies or products are low
  • Performs other duties as assigned
