Job Description
Northwest Medical Center, located at 6200 N La Cholla Blvd, is a leading healthcare institution dedicated to providing exceptional medical services and patient care in a compassionate and professional environment. This center has earned a reputation for excellence in various specialties, and its cafeteria department plays a crucial role in supporting patient and staff nutrition needs. The Nutrition Services team ensures that meals are prepared and delivered with the highest standards of quality, safety, and patient satisfaction in mind. As part of this commitment, the facility offers a supportive workplace where employees are valued, respected, and given opportunities for career growth and advancement. With a strong focus on professional development, Northwest Medical Center fosters an environment where team members can thrive both personally and professionally.
We are currently seeking a full-time Sous Chef (Nutrition Services Lead) to join our Cafeteria department. This role entails significant responsibility for cooking dinner on weekends and preparing the hot lunch entrée in both the cafeteria and the physician's lounge. The evening shift includes weekends and three weekdays, providing crucial culinary services during key meal periods. This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about culinary arts within a healthcare setting and who thrives in a team-oriented environment.
As the Nutrition Services Lead, you will be central to supporting the department’s daily operations by assigning tasks to Nutritional Services Technicians and overseeing service delivery to ensure timely and efficient meal service. Your collaboration with clinical dietitians will help ensure that patients' dietary needs and preferences are accurately reflected in meal preparation and delivery. You will be conducting quality assessments, completing 24-hour nutrition screenings for new patients, and working closely with multidisciplinary teams to support patient-centered care. Your leadership will help maintain compliance with healthcare regulations and food safety standards while promoting excellence in nutrition service. This position not only demands culinary expertise but also outstanding organizational and communication skills to ensure patient satisfaction and smooth department functioning. Your ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment and provide guidance to staff members will contribute greatly to the success of the Nutrition Services team at Northwest Medical Center.
