Job Requirements
- Must be at least eighteen years of age
- Able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and stoop throughout the day
- Ability to frequently lift and/or move items up to fifty pounds
- Comfortable working near extreme temperatures including cooking surfaces and walk-in freezers
- Available to work indoors and outdoors for events
- Must be criminally cleared
Job Qualifications
- At least three years of experience in senior housing or a related field preferred but not required
- Demonstrated skills, knowledge, and competency in leadership, training, and supervision
- Proficient written and oral communication skills
- Completed formal culinary, food service, or restaurant training or equivalent supervisory or management-level experience
- Comfortable with Microsoft Word and Excel, including document creation and modification
- Ability to send, receive, and forward emails
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations in food service
Job Duties
- Ensure food items are prepared to culinary standards and provide residents with an exceptional dining experience while maintaining portion control and minimizing waste
- Supervise and inspect all aspects of culinary service including logs, cooking equipment, storage rotation, and food service regularly to ensure they are up-to-date, clean, and sanitary
- Lead team in day-to-day operations through engagement, maintaining expectations, coaching and accountability
- Manage kitchen staff training and development to uphold quality and safety standards
- Coordinate food ordering and inventory to ensure freshness and cost efficiency
- Maintain compliance with health and safety regulations
- Collaborate with dietary staff to accommodate resident dietary needs and preferences
