Job Description

Armbrook Village, located in Westfield, Massachusetts, is a premier senior living community dedicated to providing exceptional dining experiences within a compassionate and supportive environment. Proudly ranked number 1 in The Boston Globe's 2024 List of Top Places to Work and number 35 in the nation by USA Today, Armbrook Village is renowned for its commitment to quality, care, and inclusion. As part of the Senior Living Residences (SLR) family, Armbrook Village is more than a workplace; it is a community that values diversity and fosters professional growth. The community is situated at 551 North Road in Westfield, offering a home-like atmosphere where both residents and associates thrive.

At Armbrook Village, the dining team plays a vital role in enriching the lives of our senior residents by providing gourmet meals tailored to meet diverse dietary needs. The culture here is centered on safety, respect, and teamwork, creating a fun and engaging work environment that supports employees' well-being. Associates have access to comprehensive training and development programs to advance their culinary skills and stay current with industry standards.

We are seeking a talented Sous Chef to join our dedicated culinary team. This full-time role is essential in ensuring that our dining service maintains the highest quality standards. The Sous Chef will be responsible for preparing, cooking, planning, and plating food for daily meals and special events, showcasing both culinary expertise and creativity. Attention to detail and respect for dietary needs are crucial to excel in this position. The role also involves assisting with inventory management and ordering supplies to maintain kitchen operations efficiently. The scheduled shifts allow for consistent working hours, and the pay starts at $24 to $25 per hour, depending on experience.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience working in a fast-paced kitchen environment, with at least one to two years in a cooking role. Food Safety certification is preferred, highlighting a commitment to maintaining hygiene and safety standards. Physical stamina is required to manage lifting trays, dishes, and occasionally rearranging furniture as needed. Excellent communication skills are essential to collaborate effectively with residents and co-workers, ensuring a seamless dining experience.

Armbrook Village offers a comprehensive benefits package starting from day one of hire, including paid time off, holiday pay, health insurance through Blue Cross Blue Shield, dental and vision coverage, disability, and complimentary life insurance. Additionally, employees gain access to a pre-tax retirement savings plan with a company match, flexible spending accounts, and a health reimbursement account to ease medical expenses. The benefits also extend to perks such as commuter benefits, retail discounts, a generous referral bonus program, and extensive professional development opportunities, including certification as a Dementia Practitioner.

Working at Armbrook Village means being part of a community that is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). We continuously seek to foster an environment where all associates feel valued and empowered to share ideas. Our commitment is reflected in our Platinum-level certification through SAGECare's LGBTQ Cultural Competency Training Program, ensuring an inclusive workplace embracing all identities.

In summary, joining Armbrook Village as a Sous Chef is a rewarding opportunity to contribute to the well-being and satisfaction of senior residents while growing your culinary career within a supportive and highly regarded organization. We welcome candidates who are dependable, motivated, and passionate about delivering exceptional culinary experiences in a collaborative and respectful setting.
