The Catering Sous Chef role at Legends Global, located onsite at the Toledo Complex in Toledo, OH, is pivotal in supporting the catering culinary operations under the direction of the Executive Chef. This full-time position offers a competitive salary range of $50,000 to $60,000, commensurate with experience, along with a generous benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, paid vacation, and a 401k plan. The Catering Sous Chef oversees day-to-day catering production, operations, and sanitation of culinary and stewarding services throughout the facility.

The incumbent works in close collaboration with the Catering Director to ensure the catering operation's overall success. Key responsibilities include hands-on leadership of multiple food outlet kitchens, managing food quality by selecting the freshest ingredients, and ensuring compliance with health department regulations related to storage, labeling, and sanitary standards. The Catering Sous Chef plays an active role in the production of menu items, leads culinary staff in upholding kitchen sanitation standards, and maintains positive customer relations through effective communication and prudent financial management. Flexibility is essential, as the position may require working extended hours including nights, weekends, holidays, and travel to provide incidental support to other facilities when necessary. Job Requirements

  • Degree or certification from accredited culinary arts institute or American Culinary Federation apprenticeship certification
  • Minimum five years experience in high-volume full-service food operation
  • Proven track record of improving kitchen efficiencies, quality, and relative costs
  • Excellent leadership, financial analysis, team building, and communication/customer service skills
  • Knowledge of kitchen sanitation and equipment operation and maintenance
  • Detail-oriented and extremely organized
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Flexibility to work extended hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Willingness to provide incidental support to other facilities during emergencies
  • Travel availability

Job Duties

  • Provide hands-on leadership for day-to-day operations of food outlet kitchens
  • Manage multiple outlet operations with expertise
  • Inspect, select, and use the freshest food products for menu preparation
  • Monitor food receiving, storage, and rotation to comply with health regulations
  • Participate in food production as directed by Executive Chef
  • Lead culinary staff in maintaining sanitation standards
  • Ensure positive customer and client relations through effective communication and financial management
  • Work in other kitchens within the operation as needed
