The Sous Chef/Catering-Hospitality position at Aramark plays a critical role in overseeing and ensuring the smooth operation of food production and presentation within a designated unit. This is an hourly role with a competitive pay rate ranging from $30.00 to $32.00 per hour, reflecting Aramark's commitment to offering competitive compensation based on experience and skills. The candidate will work closely under the direction of the Aramark Executive Chef to maintain high culinary standards and consistency across all food items produced.
This role involves supervising kitchen staff, participating in the preparation and presentation of meals, and managing inventory to meet daily operational needs. The Sous Chef is responsible for upholding strict food safety and sanitary standards, ensuring that all food products and kitchen equipment are handled properly. They will also be charged with training, coaching, and developing their team, fostering open communication and a collaborative working environment. The position requires a hands-on approach and a willingness to engage directly with both operations and staff, including working flexible hours during evenings and weekends for events.

Job Requirements
- Two to three years experience in a related culinary position
- Two to three years of post-high school education preferably in culinary arts
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and kitchen standards
- Strong leadership skills for managing and developing a team
- Excellent communication skills in oral, written, and reading
- Ability and willingness to work flexible, event-based hours including nights and weekends
- Hands-on approach with operational duties
Job Qualifications
- Two to three years experience in a related culinary position
- Possess two to three years of post-high school education, preferably a culinary degree
- Advanced knowledge of principles and practices within the food profession
- Experiential knowledge for managing people and solving problems
- Excellent oral, reading, and written communication skills
- Willingness to be hands on with staff and operations
- Willing to work event-based hours including evenings and weekends
Job Duties
- Supervise and participate in the production, preparation, and presentation of all foods for assigned units
- Ensure inventory sufficiency and accuracy, record deliveries, manage discrepancies, and assist with storage
- Maintain proper handling of all food products and equipment to uphold safety and kitchen standards
- Ensure cleanliness and adhere to high sanitation protocols at all times
- Interview, schedule, train, develop, empower, coach, counsel staff, resolve problems, provide open communication, and recommend discipline as appropriate
