Row 34 is an award-winning, high-energy neighborhood oyster bar with multiple locations in Boston, MA including the Seaport and Kenmore Square neighborhoods, as well as in Cambridge, Burlington, MA, and Portsmouth, NH. Row 34 Cambridge is currently seeking an Executive Sous Chef to join their dedicated team. This role plays a crucial role in shaping the culinary development and overseeing kitchen operations to ensure the highest standards are met. Reporting directly to the Chef de Cuisine, the Executive Sous Chef will be responsible for managing menu execution and the overall efficiency of kitchen processes. Ideal candidates will demonstrate leadership skills that inspire and support kitchen staff while maintaining focus on delivering a memorable dining experience for guests.
The Executive Sous Chef will undertake a variety of responsibilities including preparing and cooking all types of foods for daily service and special events, managing staffing needs, planning work schedules, and setting performance goals for team members. This role also includes training staff to comply with all safety laws and regulations and managing budgets by monitoring food, supply, and labor costs effectively. A strong focus on quality control is essential, including checking the quality of raw and cooked food products. The Executive Sous Chef must also ensure proper storage and security of food and beverage products, oversee inventory, replenish supplies efficiently, and minimize waste.
Success in this position depends on the ability to achieve and maintain company and brand standards for both quality and guest satisfaction. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Proven experience in a similar culinary leadership role
- Ability to manage and lead kitchen staff effectively

Job Duties
- Prepare and cook foods of all types, either on a regular basis or for special guests or functions
- Manage day-to-day staffing requirements, including planning and assigning work and establishing performance and development goals for team members
- Educate and train all team members in compliance with federal, state, and local laws and safety regulations
- Monitor budget and control expenses with a focus on food, supplies, and labor costs
- Check the quality of raw and cooked food products to ensure that standards are met
- Perform all duties of kitchen managers and employees as necessary
- Achieve and maintain company and brand standards for quality and guest satisfaction
- Ensure security and proper storage of food and beverage products, inventory, and equipment and replenish supplies in a timely and efficient manner while minimizing waste
