The role of Sous Chef at Levy offers an exciting opportunity for culinary professionals who thrive in energetic and entrepreneurial settings. The position is integral to the successful operation of the Culinary Department within a facility, supporting the Executive Chef in various culinary and management tasks. The Sous Chef assists in supervising food preparation and cooking processes, developing daily menu items with attention to preparation and presentation, and ensuring that culinary standards are consistently met. This role involves overseeing kitchen staff, providing leadership, coaching, and hands-on support to guarantee the quality and consistency that Levy is known for.
Key responsibilities include supporting menu development, managing inventory and ordering processes, ensuring adherence to food safety and sanitation practices like HACCP, coordinating with front-of-house teams to address menu changes and special dietary needs, and stepping in as the kitchen lead when the Executive Chef is absent. Job Requirements
- high school diploma or equivalent
- minimum of 3 years culinary experience including supervisory roles
- knowledge of food safety regulations and HACCP
- ability to work flexible hours including nights weekends and holidays
- physical stamina to perform kitchen duties
- strong leadership and teamwork skills
- effective communication abilities
- ability to adapt to fast paced and changing environments
Job Qualifications
- culinary degree or equivalent experience
- previous experience in a sous chef or similar supervisory culinary role
- strong knowledge of food safety regulations and HACCP standards

Job Duties
- support the executive chef in all culinary operations including prep planning menu execution recipe adherence and daily service leadership
- oversee kitchen staff during service providing direction guidance coaching and hands on support
- lead by example in professionalism culinary standards organization and kitchen culture
- supervise daily production including prep lists station readiness mise en place and quality checks
- ensure flawless execution of food presentation portioning timing and plating aligned with executive chef standards
- champion food safety and sanitation including HACCP practices temperature logs labeling and equipment maintenance
- assist in inventory management including ordering receiving product rotation and waste control
- support menu development and tastings providing input on seasonal items specials and game day displays
- collaborate with front-of-house partners ensuring clear communication on timings menu changes dietary needs and special requests
- help train and develop culinary team members supporting cross training and skill building efforts
- act as kitchen lead in absence of the executive chef ensuring smooth and consistent operation
- assist with administrative and operational tasks such as production schedules prep guides staffing inputs and event execution
- adapt quickly to game day volume shifts last minute changes private event needs or member specific requests
- perform other duties as assigned
