The role of the Sous Chef is critical in supporting the head chef and kitchen management in overseeing daily kitchen activities. This position involves hands-on culinary duties as well as leadership responsibilities to ensure that all operations run efficiently and smoothly. The Sous Chef will lead and motivate the kitchen team, manage inventory and supplies, and help coordinate food preparation during busy service times including catering events and banquets. This role also includes a focus on food safety compliance, menu planning input, and addressing special dietary requirements with care and precision. The ideal candidate will bring proven supervisory experience, a passion for fine dining cuisine, and strong organizational skills to drive success in our kitchen. The position is full-time and requires an in-person commitment. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Proven supervisory experience in a professional kitchen
- Extensive experience in banquet and large-scale catering
- Strong knowledge of fine dining culinary techniques and restaurant management
- Demonstrated leadership and team management abilities
- Familiarity with inventory management and food safety protocols
- Experience managing food service operations including shift scheduling and menu planning
- Knowledge of food safety regulations such as HACCP
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
Job Qualifications
- Proven experience in a supervisory role within a professional kitchen environment
- Extensive banquet experience with a focus on large-scale food production and catering services
- Strong background in fine dining cuisine and restaurant management practices
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage diverse culinary teams
- Knowledge of inventory management systems and food handling procedures
- Experience in food service management including shift management and menu planning
- Familiarity with food safety standards such as HACCP or local health regulations
- Background working in hospitality settings with a focus on customer satisfaction and service excellence
- Competence in managing kitchen operations involving food preparation cooking and presentation techniques
Job Duties
- Assist the head chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations ensuring efficient food production and service delivery
- Lead and supervise kitchen staff fostering a collaborative and motivated team environment
- Manage inventory control including ordering supplies monitoring stock levels and minimizing waste
- Prepare and execute high-quality dishes in accordance with established recipes and presentation standards
- Coordinate food service during peak hours catering events banquets and special functions
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain cleanliness throughout the kitchen area
- Support menu planning efforts by contributing innovative ideas and seasonal updates
- Oversee dietary department requirements accommodating special dietary needs with precision and care
- Manage shift schedules delegate tasks effectively and monitor team performance to ensure seamless operations
