Running Aces Casino Hotel Racetrack, located in Columbus, MN, is a premier entertainment destination combining a casino, hotel, and harness racing track. We are currently seeking a dedicated and skilled Sous Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. The Sous Chef will work closely under the guidance of the Executive Chef and play a critical role in upholding and enhancing the quality of our kitchen operations. This full-time position involves overseeing kitchen staff during assigned shifts, ensuring food preparation meets our high-quality standards, and maintaining the overall efficiency and safety of the kitchen environment. The role demands strong culinary expertise, leadership abilities, and an unwavering commitment to customer satisfaction.
In this role, you will be entrusted with standardizing recipes to guarantee consistent dish quality and presentation, conducting daily inspections of cooking and storage areas, and implementing stringent safety and sanitation protocols. Additionally, the Sous Chef will be responsible for supervising and training kitchen staff, ensuring they adhere to company policies and food safety regulations. You must be able to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen environment while fostering teamwork and motivation among staff.
Applicants should possess a minimum of 3-5 years of high-volume line cooking experience or at least 1 year of management experience in a culinary setting. A High School diploma is required, while a culinary degree and Serve Safe Food Handler certification are preferred qualifications that will enhance candidacy. Given the nature of the hospitality industry and the casino environment, candidates must be able to obtain a Minnesota Racing Commission gaming license. Working flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, is essential for this position due to the establishment's hours of operation.

Job Requirements
- 3-5 years of high volume line cooking experience and/or 1 year management experience
- High School diploma
- Serve Safe Food handler certificate
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast pace work environment
- Must be able to work flexible shifts including night, weekends and holidays
- Ability to handle frequent walking, standing, kneeling, crouching, twisting, bending and lifting
- Ability to lift up to 35 to 50lbs regularly
- Ability to work in a crowded, noisy, hot and humid environment
- Must possess or be able to acquire knowledge of company policies, state regulations and technical rules relevant to the role within one year
- Must possess ability to obtain a Minnesota Racing Commission gaming license
Job Qualifications
- 3-5 years of high volume line cooking experience and/or 1 year management experience
- High School diploma
- Culinary degree would be a plus
- Serve Safe Food handler certificate
- Possess leadership skills and an ability to teach cooks
- Strong multitasking skills
- Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word and Outlook
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
- Ability to obtain a Minnesota Racing Commission gaming license within one year
Job Duties
