Job Qualifications

  • High School degree or equivalent
  • further education in culinary arts a plus
  • formal certification in food services preferred
  • minimum three years of related experience in direct food preparation
  • restaurant experience a plus
  • experience in homeless services preferred
  • lived experience with homelessness or recovery a plus
  • human service shelter or program experience a plus
  • bilingual in Spanish a plus

Job Duties

  • Assist Head Chef in training and overseeing food preparation and service activities
  • prepare and distribute nutritious, well-balanced meals
  • use donated food items first when possible and set up catering carts
  • ensure timely meal delivery and maintenance of quality standards including sanitation and cleanliness
  • minimize waste while ensuring food production quality standards and monitor meal trends and portion sizes
  • practice and enforce high food safety and sanitation standards following HACCP and SERV Safe guidelines
  • develop and maintain sanitation schedules and tutorials
  • manage deliveries and oversee proper inventory procedures
  • receive and inspect food from vendors and donors to ensure quality and accuracy
  • complete written reports of any incidents or accidents in the kitchen
  • adhere to agency code of conduct
  • perform other duties as assigned
