Job Requirements

Must be eighteen years of age
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
Prefer six months of experience working in a restaurant or similar environment as a cook
Able to safely operate standard cooking equipment and utensils
Proficient in MS Office programs
Able to operate standard office equipment
Knowledge of or ability to learn assisted living and dementia care
Able to work with seniors and cognitively impaired individuals patiently
Able to adapt, respond to change, make decisions in stressful situations, prioritize tasks
Able to process information and follow instructions
Must pass criminal background check and health screening tests including physical and TB
Willingness to follow COVID-19 safety protocols

Job Qualifications

College coursework or education in food service or management preferred
Prefer six months experience in a restaurant or similar environment as a cook
Able to safely operate standard cooking equipment and utensils
Proficient in MS Office programs such as Word and Excel
Able to operate standard office equipment including fax, copier, and telephone
Knowledge of or ability to learn assisted living and dementia care practices
Able to work patiently with seniors and cognitively impaired individuals
Able to adapt to change, make decisions in stressful situations, and prioritize tasks
Able to process information and follow written or oral instructions
Must pass criminal background check and health screenings including physical and TB tests
Willingness to comply with COVID-19 safety protocols as required by employer

Job Duties

Ensure the dining experience is high quality including menu selection, meal preparation, meal presentation, food taste, and service
Assist with planning, preparation, and delivery of meals ensuring quality and palatability
Prepare and serve food in compliance with sanitary regulations and property policies
Develop and implement culinary procedures for timely food readiness and proper temperature
Maintain menu plan adherence and assist in methods for food quality and quantity control
Control meal portions and food consistency to minimize waste
Act as department manager in the absence of Culinary Services Director with staffing and supervision
Assist in purchasing, inventory, and proper storage of food and supplies
Maintain sanitary work environment and conform to all local codes
Inspect food storage and work areas for cleanliness and organization
Order food within budget while keeping accurate inventory
Train culinary staff on receiving food orders
Visit residents to tailor culinary services to individual preferences
