The Sous Chef position at Arrow Senior Living's Ridgemere community, located in Conway, Arkansas, is a full-time opportunity with a competitive pay rate ranging from $18 to $25.25 per hour. This role is critical in delivering exceptional dining experiences to residents by ensuring food is prepared to the highest culinary standards. The Sous Chef will work Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday from 11:30 am to 7:30 pm, leading the kitchen team and overseeing day-to-day culinary operations. Responsibilities include supervising kitchen activities, maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards, managing food storage and rotation, and minimizing waste through portion control. This role requires strong leadership skills to engage team members, uphold expectations, provide coaching, and ensure accountability. The ideal candidate will possess formal culinary training or equivalent management experience, and must be adept at communication and technology relevant to kitchen operations. Physical endurance and the ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment are essential, as is a commitment to maintaining a safe and comfortable workspace. Job Requirements

  • At least eighteen 18 years of age
  • Preferred but not required three 3 years of experience in senior housing or related field
  • Demonstrated skills knowledge and competency in leadership training and supervision
  • Proficient written and oral communication skills with management professional and support staff
  • Completed formal culinary food service or restaurant training or equivalent full-time supervisory or management-level work experience
  • Comfortable creating modifying and printing word processing and spreadsheet documents using Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel
  • Able to send receive and forward email
  • Active role requiring standing walking bending kneeling and stooping all day
  • Ability to frequently lift and or move items up to fifty 50 pounds
  • Comfortable being in close contact to extreme temperatures including cooking surfaces and walk-in freezers
  • Ability to work primarily indoors but available to work outside for events
  • Must be criminally cleared

Job Duties

  • Ensure food items are prepared to Culinary standards and provide residents with an exceptional dining experience while maintaining portion control and minimizing waste
  • Supervise and inspect all aspects of Culinary service including logs cooking equipment storage rotation and food service regularly to ensure they are up-to-date clean and sanitary
  • Lead team in day-to-day operations through engagement maintaining expectations coaching and accountability
