It provides a state-of-the-art environment designed to offer seniors an exceptional living experience complemented by breathtaking 360-degree views and expansive outdoor spaces. The community features light-filled residences with floor-to-ceiling windows that bring in ample natural light, fostering a lively yet comfortable atmosphere. Ciela Senior Living is committed to delivering gourmet California cuisine which is crafted to meet both the nutritional needs and the tastes of its residents. The facility goes beyond dining by offering a robust wellness program developed in collaboration with Los Angeles' top health professionals, ensuring holistic care for each resident. A variety of engaging activities are also available to encourage social interaction and active lifestyles among the residents.
The role of Sous Chef at Ciela Senior Living is a vital position within its culinary department. The Sous Chef works under the direction of the Director of Signature Dining and plays a critical role in supporting both the culinary and administrative functions of the dining service program. This includes scheduling staff, inventory and budget control, safe food handling practices, as well as ensuring proper food preparation and storage. The Sous Chef's responsibilities emphasize safety, sanitation, and the overall quality of the dining experience, ensuring that all residents and guests receive superior service every time. The position also involves filling in for the Director of Signature Dining when necessary, demonstrating leadership in kitchen operations as well as supporting dining room functions alongside the Dining Room Manager. The role is designed to meld culinary expertise with managerial skills to maintain seamless operation within multiple dining venues.
Candidates who excel in this role must have a comprehensive understanding of dining room operations, various cooking methods, ingredients, and equipment. They must also possess the ability to design appealing and nutritionally balanced menus tailored specifically to the senior population. Strong organizational skills, customer service orientation, and communication abilities are essential to successfully interact with residents, families, teams, and vendors. The role also requires a commitment to compliance with health and safety regulations, including maintaining current Food Handlers certifications and CPR/First Aid credentials. Computer literacy and the ability to handle administrative tasks efficiently complement the hands-on culinary and leadership responsibilities inherent in this position. The starting salary range for this full-time opportunity is $28.00 to $33.00 per hour, making it an attractive position for experienced culinary professionals seeking to make a meaningful impact in a senior living setting.
