The role of Cook for the Full Scratch Kitchen at Oakmont of Camarillo is a full-time position with a competitive pay range of $22.00 to $23.00 per hour. This position calls for culinary professionals dedicated to preparing high-quality meals that meet approved menus, adhere to property policies, and conform to health and safety standards. The cook will assist in planning, preparing, and delivering meals that are palatable, appetizing, and consistent in quality and presentation, enhancing the dining experience for residents, their families, and visitors alike. Duties include supporting special events, parties, and marketing activities with food preparation, maintaining sanitary conditions, and following procedures to ensure food safety. Job Requirements
- Must be eighteen years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- At least six months experience working in a restaurant or similar environment
- Ability to safely operate standard cooking equipment
- Proficiency in computer skills including MS Office
- Ability to work with seniors and cognitively impaired individuals
- Must pass criminal background and health screenings including physical and TB tests
- Ability to adapt and prioritize tasks
- Willingness to comply with health and safety protocols including COVID-19 measures if applicable
Job Qualifications
- Must be eighteen years of age
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Prefer college coursework or education in food service and management
- Have at least six months of experience as a cook or in a similar restaurant environment
- Able to safely operate standard cooking equipment and utensils
- Proficient with personal computer and MS Office programs
- Able to operate standard office equipment
- Knowledge of assisted living and dementia care practices preferred
- Patient and able to work with seniors including cognitively impaired individuals
- Able to adapt, prioritize and make decisions in stressful situations
- Must pass criminal background check and health screenings
Job Duties
- Prepare and serve food according to approved menu and sanitary regulations
- Assist with planning, preparation, and delivery of all meals ensuring high quality and palatable presentation
- Support food preparation for special events, activities, and marketing efforts
- Maintain control over meal portions and food consistency to minimize waste
- Ensure food storage areas are clean, organized and properly maintained
- Assist with purchasing, inventory, and stocking processes as directed
- Uphold a sanitary work environment and conform to all local codes and company policies
