Job Description
HHS is a private, family-owned business dedicated to caring for its team members and providing honest, quality-driven customer service. Founded in 1975 as Hospital Housekeeping Systems, today HHS provides services including housekeeping, food, and facility management to nearly 1,000 customers across six industries. With decades of experience and a commitment to excellence, HHS has developed a reputation for reliability and professionalism in the industries it serves. The company is currently experiencing rapid growth and is seeking motivated leaders to join the team for the next stage of its journey. HHS believes strongly in supporting and encouraging growth from within, fostering countless future leaders who are eagerly awaiting their next opportunity. A key part of the company culture is its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Team, which helps create a work environment where individuals from all backgrounds are heard, respected, and encouraged to grow.
This role offers an exciting opportunity for a friendly, compassionate culinary leader to join HHS's culinary team. The position is focused on supporting the healing journey for patients and their loved ones by delivering high-quality food service within a healthcare environment. Individuals passionate about their craft, who respect great food and appreciate a chef-led philosophy, will find this role particularly rewarding. The position offers most nights and weekends off, making work-life balance an important feature. Additionally, the annual salary for this position is $68,000, reflecting the responsibility and expertise required.
As a culinary leader with HHS, you will be expected to build a well-trained and motivated team that consistently produces high-quality food while adhering strictly to safety, sanitation, and service principles. Providing leadership that fosters a positive team environment, morale, quality, passion, and respect is essential. HHS values open-mindedness and a willingness to learn from both managers and team members alike. The role involves developing creative menus that align with current market trends and maintaining or improving customer and patient satisfaction continuously.
Additional responsibilities include supporting team member recruiting, training, development, scheduling, and assignments. The role requires execution, maintenance, and monitoring of quality control systems to protect food integrity, along with ensuring compliance with health, safety, and industry regulatory agencies. These functions are critical to sustaining the high standards that HHS is known for.
The ideal candidate will have strong kitchen skills including knife skills, cutting techniques, recipe preparation, and live-action cooking. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact at all organizational levels, effective communication capabilities including written, spoken, and non-verbal communication, and strong presentation skills are also essential. A service-oriented mentality with a focus on exceeding expectations, professionalism, proactivity, and teamwork are highly valued. Furthermore, the role requires a person who demonstrates integrity, respect, and discretion in all business dealings, and someone who can pay attention to detail and efficiently manage tasks in a fast-paced environment.
HHS offers a supportive and engaging working environment with multiple employee benefits. Paid time off including vacation and sick leave, medical, dental, and vision insurance options, a 401(k) plan with employer match, an Employee Assistance Program (EAP), and opportunities for career development and ongoing training, including potential advancement to executive chef positions, are standard at HHS. The company also emphasizes the importance of health and safety; many healthcare facilities require employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or have approved exemptions.
Veterans and candidates with military experience are encouraged to apply, reflecting HHS's commitment to equal employment opportunity and workplace diversity and inclusion.
