The Sous Chef position at Compass Group is a full-time opportunity located in Dublin, CA, specifically at Ross Stores Inc - 5130 Hacienda Drive. This role plays a critical part in supporting the Executive Chef by preparing and cooking foods, coordinating activities of cooks and other foodservice associates, and ensuring smooth kitchen operations in a high-volume corporate catering environment. The position offers a competitive pay rate ranging from $30.00 to $32.00 per hour, with potential work schedules from Monday through Friday, including occasional weekends and evenings, although exact hours may vary depending on operational needs and will be clarified during the interview process.

Job Duties

  • Cook and prepare food following approved recipes and production standards
  • Ensure all deadlines are met based on production orders
  • Supervise hourly food service associates including interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, and recommending disciplinary actions
  • Store food in designated areas following all corporate, state, and federal food safety and sanitation procedures
  • Ensure proper food handling, presentation, portion control, and maintenance of appropriate serving temperatures
  • Maintain sanitation of equipment, supplies, and utensils and clean workstation thoroughly
  • Interact with customers to resolve complaints in a friendly, service-oriented manner
  • Relay relevant information directly to supervisor
  • Demonstrate complete understanding of daily menu items and accurately explain them to associates and customers
  • Monitor inventory and deliveries of product and supplies
  • Track product production, consumption, and waste
  • Inform supervisor when supplies or products are low
  • Perform other duties as assigned
