Hyatt Regency Frisco is a premier full-service hotel located just 25 minutes north of Dallas, Texas. Nestled in the vibrant heart of Frisco, this 18-story hotel features 303 elegantly appointed guestrooms and boasts 27,500 square feet of versatile event space. The property is strategically located adjacent to the Stonebriar Centre shopping mall and just steps from notable local attractions such as Riders Field, Toyota Stadium - home of FC Dallas soccer team, and the Frisco Discovery Center. The role of a Sous Chef at Hyatt Regency Frisco holds significant importance within the culinary operations of the hotel. As an integral part of the culinary leadership team, the Sous Chef partners closely with the Executive Sous Chef to uphold and enhance the quality standards across all food service outlets. This position demands an individual who exhibits strong leadership, organizational skills, and a passion for creating memorable culinary experiences for guests. The Sous Chef is responsible for the daily management of kitchen operations, which includes overseeing food preparation, managing kitchen staff, coordinating special events, and ensuring strict adherence to food safety and sanitation protocols.

In the absence of the Executive Sous Chef, the Sous Chef assumes full responsibility for the culinary department, making critical decisions to maintain the highest standards of food quality and guest satisfaction. This role also involves developing and innovating menu items that align with Hyatt's brand standards, coordinating seasonal and holiday promotions, and driving team development through training and mentoring. The ideal candidate will possess a culinary degree or equivalent hands-on experience, have strong financial acumen to manage costs, and demonstrate the ability to lead a high-performing kitchen team in a fast-paced hospitality environment.

Job Requirements

  • Culinary degree or equivalent hands-on culinary training
  • Minimum of three (3) years of culinary leadership experience
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Experience managing kitchen staff
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Commitment to high-quality culinary standards

Job Qualifications

  • Comprehensive knowledge of all kitchen operations, including food preparation, production, and sanitation practices
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills

  • Proficiency with standard computer applications and systems

  • Hotel experience preferred

  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays

Job Duties

  • Support senior leadership by developing and assuming core management responsibilities
  • Serve as a liaison between the culinary division and all other hotel departments
  • Oversee the preparation and execution of a variety of food offerings
  • Develop and implement innovative menu items that align with Hyatt brand standards
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute special events, seasonal promotions, and holiday functions
  • Manage hourly culinary colleagues, including scheduling, payroll, training, coaching, performance evaluations, and hiring
  • Provide leadership and direction to culinary supervisors, Sous Chefs, and other kitchen leaders, as assigned
  • Lead, motivate, and develop the culinary team to achieve outstanding guest service and colleague satisfaction results
  • Monitor food production, purchasing, costs, quality, and consistency on a daily basis
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards
