This AAA Four-Diamond, National Historic Landmark hotel encompasses 238 guest rooms and more than 160,000 square feet of meeting and event space, spanning an entire city block--making it a bustling, high-profile destination that offers an exceptional working environment for hospitality professionals. The Mission Inn prides itself on delivering guest experiences rich with history, charm, and architectural beauty, while maintaining a strong commitment to luxury service standards. The role of Sous Chef at The Mission Inn Hotel & Spa is an exciting opportunity to be part of a culinary leadership team dedicated to maintaining impeccable food quality, presentation, consistency, and guest satisfaction across multiple culinary outlets including banquets, restaurants, room service, and Garde Manger. This full-time position offers a competitive salary range from $72,000 to $78,000 and requires a flexible schedule with availability across AM, PM, and mid-shift rotations including weekends, holidays, and special event periods.
As a Sous Chef, you will play an integral role in managing kitchen operations in a luxury hotel setting, working closely with the Executive Chef and culinary leadership to ensure smooth execution of daily food production and service. You will supervise and mentor a diverse culinary team, ensuring adherence to luxury hospitality standards and operational excellence. Your responsibilities will include overseeing food safety compliance, inventory monitoring, menu planning collaboration, and maintaining cost controls while fostering an environment of innovation and teamwork.

Formal culinary training or a degree is preferred, though relevant experience can substitute. This role demands a high level of dedication, energy, and professionalism as you navigate the dynamic, fast-paced atmosphere typical of luxury hospitality operations.
