Additionally, the role includes coordinating special events and private functions, ensuring culinary excellence and high standards of service. The Sous Chef fosters a professional, friendly, courteous, and timely environment known as The Sterling Touch®, which directly contributes to resident satisfaction. Reporting to the Executive Chef, this role requires adherence to community standards, procedures, and philosophies to maintain consistency and quality. Job Requirements
- College or culinary school degree
- Combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from culinary school or related training
- Three or more years of relevant food and beverage experience
- Scratch cooking experience
- Ability to read, write and understand English
- Manual dexterity to operate kitchen equipment and utensils
- Physical ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, crouch, bend, stoop, reach, grasp, push, pull
- Ability to lift or carry up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work in varying temperature ranges
Job Qualifications
- College or Culinary School Degree
- Three or more years in food and beverage, country club, fine dining, restaurant, or senior living hospitality experience
- Scratch cooking experience
- Ability to read, write and understand English
- Familiarity with sauté and broiler techniques preferred
- ServeSafe certification preferred
Job Duties
- Assist Executive Chef with culinary staff supervision and training
- Coordinate culinary activities across multiple dining venues
- Manage kitchen operations during special events and private functions
- Ensure high standards of food quality, safety, and presentation
- Uphold The Sterling Touch® service standards
- Collaborate with kitchen and dining teams to enhance resident satisfaction
- Monitor inventory and requisition kitchen supplies as needed
