Within this dynamic company, the position of Sous Chef at Hop Valley Brewing offers an exciting opportunity for culinary professionals seeking to advance their careers in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen environment. The Sous Chef will work closely with the Executive Chef and management team, playing a critical leadership role in maintaining food quality, consistency, kitchen cleanliness, organization, and fostering a positive kitchen culture. This role is integral in supporting daily kitchen operations while also assisting in training and supervising staff to ensure high standards are met during service.

The ideal candidate will be someone who leads by example, communicates effectively, and thrives under pressure. They will contribute to smooth kitchen operations by managing prep production, supporting inventory control, and ensuring strict adherence to food safety and sanitation regulations. The Sous Chef will be responsible for coaching and developing kitchen personnel, maintaining inventory and cost controls, and collaborating on menu execution and development alongside the Executive Chef. Additionally, this position requires the flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays, with an emphasis on teamwork, professionalism, and delivering a top-tier dining experience aligned with Hop Valley Brewing's standards.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent

Job Duties

  • Assist with daily kitchen operations and service execution
  • lead line during service while maintaining ticket times and food quality
  • ensure all food is prepared and plated consistently to recipe standards
  • support prep production and station organization
  • help maintain smooth communication between front and back of house
  • assist with opening and closing kitchen duties
  • monitor product levels and communicate inventory needs
  • ensure proper food rotation, labeling, and storage procedures
  • help supervise and support kitchen staff during shifts
  • coach and train line cooks, prep cooks, and dish staff
  • hold team members accountable to cleanliness, organization, and professionalism standards
  • foster a respectful, team-oriented work environment
  • assist with onboarding and training new kitchen employees
  • help maintain morale and professionalism during high-volume shifts
  • enforce food safety and sanitation standards at all times
  • ensure compliance with health department regulations
