Nestled in the heart of Napa Valley, Andaz Napa offers a luxurious and independent spirit that fosters creativity and individuality among its team members. With a workplace culture that values uniqueness and encourages innovative thinking, Andaz Napa stands out as a destination where guests can enjoy meaningful and personalized service in an elegant setting. The hotel prides itself on delivering efficient service while maintaining a warm and welcoming atmosphere that makes every guest feel special and valued.

At Andaz Napa, the commitment to excellence extends beyond guest service. The hotel offers a supportive and enriching work environment that promotes career growth and job satisfaction. Employees are encouraged to develop their skills and embrace new challenges in a culture built on respect, inclusion, and high performance. As a member of the World of Hyatt, Andaz Napa is part of a global network of hospitality professionals dedicated to exceeding expectations and fostering talent within the industry.

The role of the Sous Chef at Andaz Napa is a critical leadership position within the culinary team. This hourly position, compensated at $29.00 per hour, involves managing a specific culinary department while working closely with the Executive Chef to maintain and enhance the highest quality food and service standards. The Sous Chef acts as a key liaison between the culinary division and other hotel departments, ensuring smooth operations and collaborative teamwork. When the Executive Chef is absent, the Sous Chef assumes responsibility for overseeing the entire kitchen operation, demonstrating leadership and sound decision-making skills.

The Sous Chef's duties are multifaceted, including supervising the preparation and cooking of food items, developing creative menus that align with Hyatt brand standards, and planning special events and holiday functions. Additionally, the Sous Chef manages hourly kitchen employees through scheduling, payroll, training, coaching, evaluation, and hiring. This role also involves mentoring other culinary leadership roles such as supervisors and junior sous chefs, fostering a positive team environment focused on guest satisfaction and employee engagement.

Key responsibilities include monitoring food production to ensure quality, consistency, and cost control, as well as maintaining the highest standards of kitchen safety and sanitation. The ideal candidate possesses in-depth knowledge of kitchen operations, strong leadership and communication skills, and the ability to provide excellent customer service. Experience with financial management, basic computer proficiency, and culinary education or on-the-job training, preferably within a hotel setting, are highly valued. Flexibility in geographic location and schedule is also preferred.

Hyatt Hotels & Resorts is deeply committed to internal career advancement, with 70% of management positions filled by promoting from within and 89% of the Managing Committee advancing internally. The Sous Chef role is designed as a stepping stone toward becoming an Executive Sous Chef, featuring cross-training opportunities in banquet, restaurant, and garde manger roles to expand skill sets and leadership capabilities. Joining Andaz Napa as a Sous Chef presents a fantastic opportunity to grow and succeed in a global hospitality company recognized for its inclusive culture and dedication to employee development.
