Job Description

Acts Retirement-Life Communities is a leading not-for-profit organization that operates, owns, and develops resort-style continuing care senior living communities across multiple states in the USA. With a strong presence spanning 28 communities in 9 states and a dedicated team of over 8,500 members, Acts is committed to providing high-quality services and a vibrant lifestyle to its residents. Their communities feature a range of amenities including independent living, assisted living, and skilled nursing options, complemented by casual and fine dining venues, beauty salons, fitness centers, security services, healthcare support, and a wide variety of activity programs designed to enrich the lives of seniors. Acts fosters a culture of Loving-Kindness, embracing diversity and inclusivity, ensuring every resident and team member feels valued and respected.

We are currently seeking a passionate and experienced Sous Chef to join our culinary team at Acts Retirement-Life Communities. This role is perfect for chefs who love their craft but are looking for a balanced work schedule without the usual late-night hours that often come with culinary professions. As a Sous Chef, you will play a critical role in the day-to-day kitchen operations, ensuring food preparation and cooking are carried out with excellence in all production areas. You will support and direct kitchen staff, uphold food safety and sanitation standards, and maintain a smooth workflow in the absence of the Executive Chef.

This position offers competitive pay ranging from $58,350 to $74,463 annually, commensurate with skills and experience. A unique aspect of working with Acts is the availability of next day pay through the PayActiv benefit, which allows employees to receive payment the day after they work, providing financial flexibility.

The Sous Chef will oversee daily kitchen operations including opening and closing tasks, assist with hiring and training new kitchen staff, participate actively in inventory management, develop par sheets for food supplies, and place orders to maintain stock levels. This role demands a hands-on approach; candidates should be comfortable working across all cooking stations and familiar with diverse cooking methods.

Beyond the rewarding work environment and competitive compensation, Acts offers a comprehensive benefits package to its team members. Benefits include health coverage (medical, prescription, dental, and vision), life and disability insurance, flexible spending accounts, a 401(k) plan with a company match starting after one year of employment, paid time off, holidays, tuition reimbursement, commuter benefits, scholarship awards, professional development programs, university partnerships, referral incentives, wellness initiatives, and much more. The organization is committed to supporting team members' growth, well-being, and work-life balance.

As an equal opportunity employer, Acts Retirement-Life Communities values diversity and inclusion. The company ensures that employment decisions are made without regard to race, color, religion, age, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, marital status, national origin, disability, veteran status, or any other protected characteristic under law. Qualified candidates who require accommodations during the hiring process are encouraged to request them. Join us at Acts and be part of a caring community dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of seniors while advancing your culinary career within a supportive and enriching environment.
