The Clubs at Arrowhead, located in King - Glendale, AZ, is a distinguished golf and country club offering an exceptional experience to its members and guests. The Sous Chef role at The Clubs at Arrowhead is a pivotal position within the Food & Beverage department, reporting directly to the Executive Chef. This is an exempt, full-time position offering a competitive salary range of $55,000 to $65,000 annually. The Sous Chef works under the direction of the Executive Chef to execute the culinary department's activities, lead the shift, and maintain the club's established operational standards. This role requires a dedicated culinary professional who can ensure the highest quality of food preparation while effectively supervising kitchen staff and maintaining cleanliness and safety protocols.

As the second-in-command in the kitchen, the Sous Chef plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the culinary team. Responsibilities include complying with national programs such as the Menu Program, Approved Product List, and Inventory procedures to maintain consistency and quality. The successful candidate will guarantee proper methods of food preparation, portion control, cooking, garnishing, and timely food delivery. Supervision of the kitchen employees during shifts is essential to uphold quality and the timeliness of products. In addition, the Sous Chef is expected to respond swiftly and courteously to guest requests, following up to ensure complete satisfaction.

Maintaining a clean, sanitary kitchen environment is of utmost importance, alongside assuming the Executive Chef’s responsibilities during their absence. The Sous Chef will also foster effective communication between departments to keep everyone informed about special programs and events that may impact kitchen operations. The role demands a hands-on leader with strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to motivate and guide a team effectively.

Candidates for this role should have prior culinary experience and at minimum a high school diploma or equivalent. The position requires working nights, weekends, and holidays, reflecting the nature of hospitality and the club’s operations. It is mandatory to hold a food service permit as required by local or state government agencies, and ServSafe certification must be obtained within 30 days of hire. Physical demands include significant movement within the kitchen, handling various utensils and products, and lifting weights up to 50 pounds. Effective communication skills are necessary for interaction with guests and staff and clear instruction delivery.
