Tacos El Terry is a vibrant and high-energy quick-service taqueria opening in early Fall 2026, located in the bustling heart of Broadway, Nashville’s most iconic street. This new establishment is poised to become a popular destination for locals and visitors alike, offering a focused menu that highlights quality and simplicity with 4 to 5 made-to-order tacos, fresh chips, guacamole, and a variety of fresh salsas. Each taco is crafted meticulously and served on fresh handmade tortillas, capturing the authentic and flavorful essence of traditional taquerias. The beverage program complements the food with classics such as margaritas, palomas, and an assortment of ice-cold beers, designed to enhance the overall dining experience in a lively, welcoming environment.

By joining this new venture on Nashville's vibrant Broadway, team members will be part of a high-volume establishment that values hospitality and culinary excellence. The role of Sous Chef at Tacos El Terry is both challenging and rewarding, offering the opportunity to be a founding member of the kitchen team. The Sous Chef will play a critical role in managing back-of-house operations efficiently during high-volume service hours, ensuring the highest standards of food quality and safety, and fostering a positive work environment.
This position requires at least 2 years of previous experience as a Sous Chef and demands strong leadership skills to supervise kitchen staff and back-of-house teams effectively. The Sous Chef is responsible for leading BOH shifts, performing food preparation and cooking, and overseeing inventory and food costing. They will partner closely with the General Manager and other designated managers to maintain recipe integrity, conduct quality control throughout the day, and help manage the order and purchasing process. Furthermore, the Sous Chef will assist in staff recruitment, onboarding, training, supervision, and professional development, emphasizing teamwork and effective communication between front-of-house and back-of-house teams.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2 years of sous chef experience
- Proven leadership and team management skills
- Ability to work flexible shifts including nights and weekends
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 50 pounds
- Basic knowledge of food safety and kitchen operations
Job Qualifications
- 2-3 years of sous chef experience in a full-service restaurant
- Ability to lead and manage the kitchen staff
- Must be comfortable working late hours, restaurant operates until 3:00 AM
Job Duties
- Run BOH shifts and ensure effective and efficient BOH shifts and operations including food prep and cooking, ensure adequate inventory levels of food and supplies, and supervise the kitchen, dish and all other BOH teams
- Lead BOH pre-shift meetings and participate in line, temp and cooler checks and food tastings for the shift
- Partner with GM and/or designated managers/chefs to regularly review and maintain recipe books
- Perform regular line checks throughout the day to ensure quality of all menu items
- Purchase and order food product and supplies for the restaurant including daily product order
- Assist with tracking and controlling food cost
- Ensure effective communication of food production and timing issues, needs, and special requests between front of house (FOH) and BOH
- Partner with GM and management team to interview, hire, onboard, train, supervise and develop all BOH employees and teams as needed
- Model and promote teamwork across all teams
- Use tact and good judgment when dealing with challenges pertaining to guests, vendors and employees, and respond with patience and courtesy
- Work a variety of days and shifts (including early mornings, late nights and weekends) at multiple sites with or without overnight travel, as needed
- Move and lift up to 10 pounds, frequently move and/or lift up to 25 pounds, occasionally move and/or lift up to 50 pounds
