The available position is a full-time Management role based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, at the JW Marriott property located at 3030 Holiday Drive. This role is essential to the overall success of the daily kitchen operations within the Food and Beverage segment of the hotel. The salary range for this position is $67,000 to $84,000 annually, with bonuses eligible based on performance. The role demands not only culinary expertise but also strong leadership and operational management capabilities.

As the Kitchen Manager, the professional will be accountable for managing the day-to-day kitchen operations, ensuring the maintenance of high culinary standards, and delivering exceptional food quality consistently. This position requires hands-on participation in cooking and food preparation while leading the kitchen team by example. The Kitchen Manager will supervise all kitchen areas, maintain sanitation and food safety standards, and manage purchasing, receiving, and food storage efficiently. Close collaboration with the Executive Chef is part of the daily routine, including assisting with kitchen operations and menu development.

Leadership is a core element of this role, which includes motivating and developing staff, providing constructive feedback, and fostering a team culture built on trust, respect, and cooperation. The Manager will oversee scheduling, productivity levels, and adherence to business goals, using tools such as the Labor Management System to optimize resource allocation. Effective communication skills are vital for this role, as it involves coaching team members, resolving conflicts, handling guest feedback, and upholding company policies fairly and consistently.

Customer service excellence is integral to the position, requiring the Manager to empower employees to deliver superior service that meets and exceeds guest expectations. Job Duties

  • Manage kitchen shift operations and ensure compliance with Food and Beverage policies, standards and procedures
  • Estimate daily production needs weekly and communicate with kitchen personnel
  • Assist Executive Chef with kitchen operations and preparation
  • Prepare and cook various food items regularly or for special functions
  • Develop and design new culinary applications and artistic food presentations
  • Maintain purchasing, receiving, and food storage standards
  • Ensure compliance with food handling and sanitation standards
  • Perform duties of kitchen managers and employees as necessary
  • Recognize superior quality products, presentations and flavor
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
  • Follow proper handling and temperature standards for food products
  • Operate and maintain department equipment and report malfunctions
  • Check quality of raw and cooked food products
  • Supervise and coordinate activities of cooks and food preparation workers
  • Lead kitchen shifts while preparing food and executing requests
