The hotel features various food and beverage offerings, including the signature Valley Goat restaurant by Chef Stephanie Izard, Backyard Café which is a seasonal Beer Garden, and a comprehensive banquet and catering program. The Sous Chef role at Treehouse Silicon Valley is a critical culinary leadership position tasked with overseeing the daily kitchen operations across a range of food and beverage venues. This role demands a combination of culinary expertise, leadership, and a strong commitment to sustainability and quality. The successful candidate is responsible for maintaining culinary excellence by upholding Chef Stephanie Izard’s standards and Treehouse’s cultural values. This includes managing kitchen staff such as stewards, cooks, and chef de parties, ensuring strict adherence to health and safety regulations, and delivering consistent, high-quality dishes. The Sous Chef will also contribute creatively to menu development, inventory management, and overall kitchen organization.
Candidates for this role must demonstrate advanced skills in food preparation techniques, including proficiency in multiple cooking methods, knife skills, and food safety standards. They should possess Management level Serv Safe Certification and be knowledgeable about waste diversion and sustainability best practices. Strong communication skills and the ability to lead and develop a team are essential. This position requires someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can maintain composure under pressure while ensuring the kitchen operates smoothly and efficiently.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2-3 years experience as a Chef de Partie or equal position
- management level Serv Safe Certification
- advanced culinary skills including knife skills

- ability to work in fast-paced and stressful environment
- ability to stand for prolonged periods and lift up to 15 pounds

Job Qualifications

- 2-3 years experience as a Chef de Partie or equal position

Job Duties
- Oversees preparation of all items throughout the operation
- knowledge of and ability to cook any station on the line when necessary
- oversees compliance with applicable health, safety, food handling, and hygiene codes and standards
- expedite service, checking for quality and consistency
- execute line checks for quality control
- execute ordering and inventory
- provide creative input for menu development
- oversee the receiving process, checking items for quality
- write schedules
- lead daily rallies with both front and back of the house
